I met with Dr. Fuentes and told him the medication we were trying out was too rough on me and I could not be on it anymore due to side effects. His response was, Let's just put you on a lower dose. This is after I expressed I refused to take it again. He didn't listen. He just ended the appointment that he was already an hour late for.
So instead I decided to meet up again with him the following week to again let him know I will never take that medication again as the side effects were too harsh and we needed to do something else.
So we began discussing other medication options and he brought up Nortriptyline. I asked if it was an SSRI or would increase serotonin levels as I can't have medications that increase serotonin levels due to a rare cancer I have that already produces serotonin. so I have to monitor my levels every few months and my last labs showed it was climbing again.
Dr. Fuentes assured me that Nortriptyline does NOT increase serotonin levels and I could take it.
So I picked up the Rx and took one pill. After taking the pill I decided to look up the medication and the 1st thing I see is that the medication works due to INCREASING SERATONIN LEVELS in your body.
To say I was angry would be an understatement. Not only did Dr. Fuentes NOT LISTEN to me again, but this time he lied to my face and could have killed me had I stayed on the medication.
I waited until yesterday when I met up with my oncologist to verify if the medication was safe to take or not. He told me if there were other medication options, I need to do the other options because this medication for me is unsafe unless it's a last resort. As it could raise my seratonin levels dangerously high and could result in death.
All things I TOLD Dr. Fuentes yet, once again, he didn't listen and not only that, lied to me.
So I refuse to see him ever again as I no longer trust him not to kill me via his lack of care or listening or understanding.
I have already called the front desk to inform them of this and unfortunately Dr. Elkyam is no longer seeing patients, so now I have to find a new neurologist to try and get new medication. Now that I am off meds I am relapsing again and the pressure is coming back. So now there will be a delay in care as I seek a new neurologist who is not months out from seeing new patients and all the while I have to suffer with rising head pressure.
So I have Dr. Fuentes to thank for my pain and suffering.
I have my good for thought of looking up the medication to thank my life for as he likely could have killed me on that medication.
This was such a an egregious error and I hope the right people see this report I am making. His mistake and not listening and lying could have very well ended my life. I pray he is not as careless with his other patients.

Dr Fuentes and staff are very professional
And attentive to your needs thru process of diagnosis and treatment. They were very helpful also in assisting me with needed support along the way in between appointments . Aaron and all in office staff

Mr. Fuentes has always been amazing with my care. I’ve never had an issue. I moved out of town, 9hrs away, and still continue to do my visits and virtual appointments with him and this office because of how amazing the staff is.

I have been seen by this clinic 3 times. My 4th appointment was supposed to be yesterday, but after waiting 35 minutes in the lobby past my appointment time and being told it would be quite a while waiting in the back, I decided to leave. The front desk didn't even care about rescheduling. Simply told me to call when I could find time. I understand running behind, but this has happened every appointment. My time is important just as everyone else's. If they get this backed up, possibly try not booking as many appointments. If I showed up late like this my appointment would have been cancelled and I would be charged. Definitely would not recommend coming here.
Not only long wait times past appointment times, but I did not felt like I was heard or simply cared about at all. I had concerns and was basically laughed at.
